Christmas Concert Provides Opportunity to Escape Holiday Traffic East Meadow, NY –The Holy Trinity Orthodox Church choir will present a Christmas concert for the general public on Saturday, December 12 at 7 pm. Hymns and carols to celebrate Christmas will be featured, followed by a reception. A free-will offering will be taken to support the efforts of Emmaus House, an outreach program for the homeless in Harlem. “The music and hymns share the joy of Christmas and the birth of our Savior,” said Nicholas Reeves, choir director, “Likewise, the spirit of Christmas reminds us to share what we have with others – by providing food, blankets, and financial support for programs like those at Emmaus House.” The choir, which sings without instrumental accompaniment, will present Orthodox hymns of the Christmas season and traditional carols in the church. Founded in 1924, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church has played an active role in the local Long Island community. In 2007, the parish was invited to become involved with the work of Emmaus House, located in the heart of Harlem, at 160 West 120th Street. Currently, parish volunteers help provide food and blankets through a traveling soup kitchen. To help offset the expenses needed to prepare meals, the parish choir will accept free-will contributions at the conclusion of the concert. “There is so much to be done, but if each of us makes even a small contribution, we can really help Emmaus House,” Father Martin said. “Hopefully, the choir’s singing will inspire us to carry the joy of Christmas well into the new year.” For more information about the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church choir concert, please call 516-483-3649.
